Light catcher pet memorial fused glass ornament — STAR

Although these may look like any other fused glass ornaments, they are actually pet memorials! If you look closely, you will see a soft grey dust sprinkled down the center of the ornament. That's no ordinary dust; it's the ashes of one of my beloved golden retrievers! I'd be honored to make a similar piece for you, using your own pet's ashes. In creating this ornament, your chosen colors of crushed glass are placed in a mold. Your pet’s ashes are respectfully added and covered with clear glass. Then the entire piece is carefully loaded into the kiln, where all those individual bits of glass and ash are melted and fused into one lovely ornament. I use transparent glass, so that light will shine through the beautiful colors, whether you hang it on a lighted tree or in a window.

In a process that takes an entire day and night, great care is taken to ramp up the temperature very slowly, fuse at just the right point, and anneal (cool) very slowly. All that time in the kiln minimizes large bubbles in the glass and ensures a very strong piece.

If you purchase this ornament, I will mail you a COLLECTION KIT so that you can send me a small portion of your furry friend’s ashes. I will then make you a star-shaped glass ornament similar to the ones pictured here. Your ornament will come ready to hang on a ribbon tied with a bow.

When you receive your collection kit, you will have a few choices to make. You can choose whether you want your ornament hanging from a silver, gold or white ribbon. You also get to choose two glass colors from a list you will find in your kit.
